Biography

Welcome to my website. I’m Rahele Kafieh, an assistant professor in Engineering Department at Durham University, Durham, United Kingdom. My research is concentrated on biomedical image analysis with more emphasis on ocular data. Form theoretical point of view, I like working on deep learning, graph based image analysis, and time-frequency methods, with purpose of segmentation, restoration and classification of medical data. I a member of BioMedEng Association and Institute Of Physics & Engineering In Medicine (IPEM).

I was a Research Associate, at the Institute of Biosciences, at Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom from 2021 to 2022, where my research was focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in detection of neurological diseases from the eye.

I obtained my first tenure post as an assistant professor in School of Advanced Technologies in Medicine, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran, in 2014 and remained there for 7 years, during which I obtained valuable experience in teaching and supervision of projects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My research in Iran was focused on machine learning for biomedical image processing through close collaboration with clinicians.

I was a guest researcher at Neurocure Clinical Research Center, Charite University, Berlin, Germany in 2018 and 2019.
